Deep Tissue Massage
Slow, focused pressure that works into the deeper layers of muscle where chronic tension, stubborn knots, and real pain actually live.
We find where the real problem is
Before we start, we sit with you for 5 minutes. Where does it hurt? How long has it been like this? We map out the specific areas before a single stroke is applied.
What’s includedSlow, deliberate pressure reaches deeper layers
Firm, targeted strokes work past the surface into the connective tissue and muscle layers where chronic knots actually form. This is the work that makes a difference you feel the next morning.
Tension breaks up, circulation restores
As pressure releases in the spots that restrict your movement, blood flow returns to those areas. Stiffness starts to ease. Mobility starts to come back.
You leave moving differently
Light finishing work grounds you before you get up. Most clients notice the difference when they stand and again the next morning when they wake up without the usual stiffness.
Who its forFor you if the pain keeps coming back no matter what you do.
You’ve tried everything, but you still wake up stiff. The tension in your neck, shoulders, or lower back never fully goes away, and your body is paying for it. Finally feel real relief as deep, targeted pressure melts through stubborn knots. Move freely again, feel looser, lighter, and pain-free.
Where Deep Tissue Works Hardest
Treatment areasNeck and shoulders
Where stress and tension are stored most. Deep work here relieves the tightness that causes headaches, restricted movement, and that constant ache.
Lower back
Chronic lower back pain from carrying, sitting, or standing. Targeted pressure breaks up the deep muscle tension that surface-level massage can't reach
Upper back
Knots and stiffness between the shoulder blades that build from posture, stress, and daily strain. This is often where clients feel the most immediate difference.
Legs and hips
Tight hips and legs from carrying toddlers, running, or sitting all day. Deep strokes restore range of motion and reduce the heaviness that makes movement feel like effort.
Your massage, made personal
Before your session, your therapist sits with you. Not to fill out a form, but to actually understand what's going on. Where is the pain? How long? What makes it worse?
That 5 minutes is why our clients don't just feel better during the session, they feel it the next morning when they move without wincing for the first time in weeks. At AWS, every session is personal, precise, and unforgettable.

FAQs
-
Swedish uses long, flowing strokes to relax the surface layers of muscle. Perfect for stress and tension relief. Deep tissue uses slow, firm pressure to work into the deeper layers where chronic pain and stubborn knots actually live.
It's not a harder Swedish, it's a fundamentally different technique targeting a different problem.
-
Deep tissue is more intense than Swedish, but it should never be unbearable. You may feel discomfort as tight areas are worked through. That's normal and means the pressure is reaching where it needs to.
Your therapist adjusts throughout. If it's ever too much, say so, we pull back immediately. You're always in control.
-
Some soreness the next day is completely normal especially if it's your first deep tissue session or the area has been tight for a long time. Think of it like the soreness after a hard workout. It means the tension was released.
It usually resolves within 24–48 hours. Drinking water and gentle movement helps.
-
It's uncommon but possible, especially in areas of significant chronic tension.
With 14+ years of experience, your therapist applies pressure carefully and precisely to get the therapeutic result without unnecessary trauma. The goal is relief, not intensity for its own sake.
-
Most of the time, it's not that massage doesn't work. It's that the pressure didn't go deep enough, or the therapist didn't know exactly where to focus.
That's exactly what our 5-minute pre-session consultation is for. We find out what's actually going on before we start, so your session is built around your specific pain. Not a generic chain routine.
-
For chronic pain, every 1–2 weeks early on gives the best results. Once things improve, monthly maintenance keeps it from building back up.
Your therapist will give you a real recommendation based on what she finds in your first session.
